The NTS-1000B performs a precise calibrationat the measured frequency beforeevery measurement to insure measurementaccuracy. The RDL Model NTS-1000B Phase NoiseAnalyzer is a unique instrument that, forthe first time, allows phase noise testing ofevery part. An FFT digital ** processorand vibration-hardened delay line are containedinside the unit. No external **generator or outside computer arerequired. Measurements are made by simply pushingthe “start measurement” button orsending an IEEE bus command. No specialtraining or skills are required tooperate the RDL Model NTS-1000B.Phase locking is not required. Automatic“pass/fail” analysis of phase noise levelsand spurious levels is provided. Theselevels are user defined and the resultscan be reported over the IEEE-488 bus. The “measurement range” and “number ofFFT averages” are selectable by the user tooptimize measurement time. The NTS-1000B only measures in the selected rangeto minimize the measurement time. Inproduction applications, where extremelyfast measurements are needed, theNTS-1000B can measure and reportthe results in less than 2 seconds.Typical measurement time for afull range measurement, 10 Hz to1 MHz, with 100 FFT averages,is only 30 seconds, including anautomatic calibration.
